Back to School with Confidence!
As a new school year begins, we know parents, caregivers, teachers, and SLPs are working hard to set students up for success. At SAY, we believe every young person who stutters deserves a supportive community where their voice is always heard. But we also know that school can sometimes be a challenging place for children who stutter.
That’s why we’ve created a free Back-to-School Toolkit—a collection of printable resources you can use and share to help children who stutter feel confident and supported at school.
Read more on how to support young people who stutter at school:
- Building a Community of Support: Guidance on building a community of support by educating others about stuttering and fostering understanding and acceptance.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Tips for navigating the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) so families can advocate with clarity and confidence.
- 504 Plans: Practical tools for using 504 Plans and classroom accommodations to create inclusive, supportive learning environments.
- Building Resilience: Strategies that encourage confidence, self-advocacy, and a positive outlook in young people who stutter.

In addition to these resources, SAY offers year-round programs for children and teens who stutter, ages 3-18, ranging from speech therapy and creative arts workshops to summer camp and online support. These programs help young people build confidence, make friends, and know their voices deserve to be heard. All creative arts programs are offered FREE of charge. SAY offers sliding scale rates for SAY: Speech and Camp SAY. To date, no child has been turned away from our programming due to a family’s inability to pay. See our programs below:
